Live: I’m Kingfisher
On 9 September, I’m Kingfisher plays live at Kapten Jack. Come along for an evening of warm, dreamlike indie, folk and americana!
With an idiosyncratic guitar technique, Thomas Jonsson runs a classic songwriting and americana soul through a filter entirely his own. The result lands somewhere dreamlike, warm and personal. With the indie and folk project I’m Kingfisher he has kept one foot firmly in the obscure and the other in the immediately catchy.
In 2021, Thomas Jonsson won the Manifest Award for singer/songwriter of the year. He is now out with his latest album, ”Give Up Together”, which has had glowing reviews both in Sweden and abroad.
I’m Kingfisher is on the big screen, too. In the feature film ”Biodlaren”, starring Adam Lundgren, Thomas Jonsson makes a cameo and contributes four songs. One of the film’s scenes takes place at an I’m Kingfisher concert. The film opened the Gothenburg Film Festival and went on to a successful cinema release.
It is not the first time his music has reached the cinema. Alongside contributions to several independent films, he wrote the song ”The Pain of Happiness” specially for the award-winning film ”Comedy Queen” in 2022.
”Give Up Together” follows the 2023 album ”Glue”, which among other things led to tours supporting Courtney Marie Andrews and The Jayhawks. The tour with The Jayhawks included a stop at a sold-out Nalen.
On 9 September, I’m Kingfisher comes to Kapten Jack. Welcome to an evening of warm, dreamlike indie, folk and americana from one of Sweden’s most distinctive songwriters.
